Swap a tail on a leg or a trip
Replace the assigned aircraft on one leg, or on every leg of a trip at once, with a map of your real candidates.
Tail swap isn't a separate destination in the navigation — it's an action you take from the record it affects.
Swap one leg
- Open the leg's detail drawer (from the dispatch board or a conflict workspace) and select Swap Tail.
- Review the candidate list. Each candidate is partitioned as here (already at the leg's departure airport), elsewhere (positioned somewhere else, which means a deadhead if you pick it), or flagged as schedule-conflicted; a grounded tail is shown but marked unavailable, never hidden.
- Check the map: it plots a pin for every candidate with an honest last-known position, the leg's departure airport, and — once you pick a candidate positioned elsewhere — the deadhead path between them. The camera frames every plotted candidate plus the departure, so a repositioning tail is never out of frame. A candidate with no honest position fix still appears in the list, just not on the map.
- Pick a candidate and review the "what moves" preview — this is advisory only, not a legality verdict.
- Commit the swap. The engine re-runs the same gates a normal assignment would, for real, before the swap takes effect; a refusal shows the engine's real reason.
Swap a whole trip
- Open the trip's Trip Workspace and select Swap Tail · Whole Trip on the Overview tab.
- Follow the same candidate review and map as above.
- Commit. The swap applies to every leg of the trip atomically — it either takes effect across the whole trip or not at all.
In mock/demo mode, committing a swap is blocked with an explicit message — there's no live engine to re-gate against, so the platform never fakes a successful swap.
